Athletes in Action is the sports ministry of Power to Change. After the redesign of the p2c.com website, Athletes in Action requested help in designing and developing their new Canadian site. The objective was to maintain a similar structure to p2c.com’s corporate site, while serving the practical and brand needs of the Athletes in Action organization.

DISCOVERY

What is the goal?

To increase online donations and to increase the number of sign-ups for AIA’s sports camps.

What are the main challenges/opportunities?

The main challenge consisted of creating a website with a similar structure and feel to Power to Change’s website while still maintaining AIA’s branding objectives. Another challenge was that the website needed to appeal to two different audiences: older online donors and younger members of the community looking to sign up to sports camps.

Who is the audience?

Christian families that like to support different projects through online donations. Younger members of the community are interested in sports.

USER PERSONAS

For this project, there were two main user personas: older Christian individuals and families who would like to support the ministry by donating online, and younger members of the community who were looking to get involved in sports camps.

John and Isabella

Background

John and Isabella are a married couple with three children. They are around their early 40s, are both Christian, and are very involved in their church’s community, as well as other communities around their neighborhood.

They are both professionals, with a comfortable house income.

At this point in their lives, Isabella and John want to focus on raising and educating their children, as well as look for ways to make an impact on their community. One of the ways they do this is by donating to organizations they carefully research. They also volunteer in their extra time.

John and Rebecca value family, spirituality, and community.

Sarah

Background

Sarah is 16, loves sports, and has been practicing basketball since she can remember. She noticed that some of her friends registered for the “AIA Basketball Nights” on Fridays at the local gym, she went there on the recommendation of one of her friends and has been loving it since.

Sarah enjoys making friends at the camp and has even volunteered a couple of times to assist the coaches. Her parents sometimes come to watch her train as well as to volunteer.

Since she will be going to university in the following years, Sarah is also very interested in the AIA training camps for University students.

CONCEPT DESIGN

The main target for this website were young people at the high school and university level. For this reason, the design focused on being responsive, modern, and inviting.
